Real Madrid 2-1 Sporting Gijon
Despite absence some of key players (Bale, Kroos, Casemiro, Pepe) Real are going strong and recorded sixth straight LaLiga victory, but it was harder than expected.
Nothing suggested that Real could have trouble dealing with Sporting Gijon as Cristiano Ronaldo netted two times in the first 18 minutes. Portuguese superstar became the first ever player to score over 50 goals six years in a row.
However, instead surrender, Fernandez Abelardo’s players chose to fight and Carlos Carmona scored for 2-1 in the 35th minute. Until the end of the game, Real pretty much controlled the ball possession, but failed to endanger Diego Marino.
Croatian international Duje Cop, who is Gijon’s top scorer so far with five goals, had a chance to level the result, but his shot from the penalty spot didn’t hit the target.
With this victory Real stayed in the positive momentum before El Classico, while Sporting stayed in the 18th place.
Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona
Barcelona fail to win once again at Anoeta and they wait El Classico in the second place with six points behind Real Madrid so victory at Saturday is imperative for Enrique’s troops, but they will hardly achieve that is they repeat their performance against Real Sociedad.
Not only that La Real completely outplayed Barca and had better chances, they also had bigger possession. Barcelona had only 47.8% of the time ball in their possession which is the lowest possession since the start of Guardiola’s era.
Carlos Vela was especially unlucky in this game as the Mexican international hit the woodwork twice. His first strike could’ve been decisive for Real Sociedad as Juanmi bounced on the rebound, but his goal was unjustly disallowed for offside.
Another bad news for Luis Enrique just a couple of days before the big game is that Messi missed yesterday’s training. Spanish news have already started speculations is the reason injury or fight with the manager, but the Catalan side are trying to calm down the situation with statement that Messi was only given a rest and will be a 100% ready for El Classico.

Sevilla 2-1 Valencia
Sevilla kept the connection with the leading duo thanks to 2-1 victory over Valencia.
The Red and Whites took the lead in the 53rd minute thanks to Garay’s clumsiness, but Munir el Haddadi leveled the result in the 65th minute, just three minutes after he was introduced instead of Aymen Abdennour.
Nicolas Pareja spiced up his great defensive performance (three clearances, three interceptions, four tackles, six duels) with his 75th minute winner.
Sevilla are in the third place with six points less than Real Madrid, while Valencia keep struggling in the 16th place with only two points above the relegation zone.
Osasuna 0-3 Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid finally recorded victory after two consecutive defeats without single goal scored in those two games, but thins might’ve ended differently if Jan Oblak didn’t save Roberto Torres’ penalty in the 16th minute.
The Atleti’s haven’t missed to punish that miss and Diego Godin scored an opener in the 36th minute. Just one minute later, Gameiro was too fast for Osasuna’s back line and scored for 2-0. Yannick Carrasco just confirmed three points in the 90th minute.
Atletico stayed in the fourth place, while Osasuna remain, alongside Granada, the biggest candidate for the relegation.
